Autumnal Barcelona Wedding
Autumnal Barcelona Wedding: Christina and Victor got married in October 2024 at the beautiful Casa Felix.
We had so much fun working with Christina and Victor to make their perfect autumnal Barcelona wedding happen. They were an absolute joy and we look back fondly on our experience with them. Learn much more about them and their experience in this interview with our bride Christina.

1. Describe your Barcelona wedding day in 3 words!
Dramatic, personal, and FUN.

2. What was your favourite memory from your Barcelona wedding?
I have a distinct memory of walking out to our ceremony to blue skies after an entire morning of rain and seeing Victor (the groom) in tears at the end of the aisle. Nothing will ever compare to how special that feeling was. It was like the skies opened up just for our wedding.
Because it was an intimate event, I also loved being able to see each and every one of our guests from the bottom of the aisle. Everyone was so supportive while I dealt with my nerves during the rain storms. Several guests even sent me photos of the rainbow that emerged right before the ceremony as a sign of good luck. The camaraderie we felt in those moments meant the world to me.

3. Why did you choose Barcelona and your venue for your wedding?
We knew we wanted to house almost everyone in a villa for the weekend, and as we were searching I stumbled upon Casa Felix. It held more guests than we saw from any other villa, so we were immediately interested. We lucked out with the villa being so close to Barcelona, which is a city that has been special to me since high school. I had already visited Spain more times than any other country outside of our own, so it felt right to share my love for it with our friends and family. Victor was just as excited because he works in the culinary industry and knew the wedding food in Spain would exceed everyone’s expectations.

4. What did you love most about your wedding dress? How and where did you find it?
I ran to Wander Atelier in New Jersey as soon as I saw my dress, the Clivia by Alena Leena, on Instagram. I fell in love with the pleated tulle, deep sweetheart bodice, and elegant embroidery. It felt both timeless and dramatic, which was perfect for the princess aesthetic I was looking for. The best part is that it didn’t wrinkle at all, so I didn’t need to steam it even after international travel!

5. If you did it all again what might you change?
Ha.. if I could change the weather, that would be it! Otherwise, there isn’t much under our control that we would change. Our vendors were absolutely incredible in making the entire weekend memorable and special for our guests despite the rain. If anything, I would stay at Casa Felix for longer!

6. Tell us about the blooms. What was your favourite thing about your wedding flowers?
We loved that the flowers embodied the essence of autumn. Our wedding party’s outfits were deliberately reflective of darker, more muted fall tones, and the flowers provided by Go Floral matched them perfectly.

7. What is your advice for other couples getting married in Barcelona?
As a type A bride, I would recommend trusting in your vendors and staying as relaxed as you can. If you’re working with Barcelona Brides, you are in good hands. Every time I visit Spain I am reminded of the importance of staying present, enjoying the moment, and taking time to unwind. These are values that are easy to forget when you live in a city like New York. For those in the wedding planning process, I strongly suggest trying to enjoy every minute because it is a moment in time that you won’t get back. I miss it already!

8. What cultural aspects did you include in your big day?
We hosted a big Chinese dinner banquet earlier this summer for our extended family, so we wanted this wedding to really represent Spain. Some of our favorite details were the jamón corner, Spanish guitar duo, and flamenco dancer. We had many guests who had never been to Spain before the wedding, so it felt extra special to be able to share these cultural moments with them. Everyone has been raving about these particular details since then!

9. What song brings you back to the day and why?
Here Comes the Sun — because the rain didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits! This was also one of our ceremony songs, but I think it really reflects the joy our guests and vendors all brought to the wedding day despite the weather. In the end, everything was perfect.

What did Christina and Victor have to say about their experience with Barcelona Brides and their autumnal Barcelona wedding at Casa Felix?
This team is truly the best of the best! Right from the beginning, we were beyond impressed with their friendliness and organization after several interviews with other planners. I was sold as soon as Rebecca gave me a walk-through of Aisle Planner, their project management system that clients also have full access to until the wedding. We primarily worked with Maily on planning for over a year, and then with her and Claudia on our wedding weekend. Maily and the team were always quick to respond to each and every one of my messages, even when I probably sent way too many in one morning. They recommended each of the vendors we ended up hiring, gave valuable advice based on their experience at our venue, and were quick to communicate all decisions and changes between parties. Maily was always available to schedule video calls with us during the planning process as well, which was extremely comforting as a destination bride. As if we couldn’t be more impressed, Maily and Claudia were absolute heroes when our wedding day started with rain and thunderstorms. They coordinated our vendors gracefully and were able to shift everything around so we could enjoy our ceremony and cocktail hour under blue skies. Many of our original plans changed due to the unexpected weather, but our guests continue to rave about how perfectly everything came together. It felt as if everything had gone to plan by the end of the night. Maily & Claudia were so kind in lessening my worries all night as well. We could not recommend the Barcelona Brides team more, especially for destination weddings. They lead with kindness and compassion, and they work hard to ensure their clients get to experience their dream weddings. We will be forever grateful!
