Brona & Aodhan Villa Catalina Wedding Interview With Our Bride

This wedding was such a reflection of the couple and their wedding destination Villa Catalina Sitges. Fun, beautiful, easy going and unique. From the magician performer Jordi Nexus, who had everyone in stitches and wondering how the heck he did it, to the patios of Cordoba inspired seating plan and colourful bouquets and bridesmaids’ hoops. We loved everything about this fun filled Sitges wedding. Colour was everywhere with cake and decoration by Lolita and photos by And I Love You So. We wish Brona and Aodhan a long happy future together. It goes without saying that we loved everything about working with them. Thank you Brona for taking the time to have us interview you.

Brona, describe your Villa Catalina wedding day in 3 words!

What was your favourite memory from your Villa Catalina wedding?

Seeing everyone we love in Sitges celebrating with us and having the time of their lives from start to finish! We were overwhelmed by the number of family and friends who made the journey from across the globe to celebrate our special day and we love them even more for it xx

Why did you chose Sitges as you wedding destination?

We chose Villa Catalina, Sitges because we fell in love with it on our very first visit. We got engaged in Barcelona the year prior to our wedding. It’s such a special place to us so we thought we’d add to the list of beautiful memories and celebrate the best day of our lives there with the people we love! And it certainly didn’t disappoint!

What did you love most about your wedding dress? How and where did you find it?

I chose my dress in a beautiful, quaint boutique at home in Ireland on the first day I went wedding dress shopping. I knew from the moment I tried it on that it was the one. Elegant, floaty and just perfect! It fitted the location, theme and atmosphere so well – and it was so light and comfortable that I wore it until 5:30am 🙂

If you did it all again what might you change?

Absolutely nothing! It was everything we wished for and more thanks to Rebecca, her team and all the vendors involved! We laughed, we cried (with happiness!), we danced, we sang, we ate, we drank and we lived the most magical day of our lives! Thank you to everyone who made it the most magnificent day it was. We can’t thank you all enough!

Tell us about the blooms. What was your favourite thing about your wedding flowers?

Given the lively, friendly and warm atmosphere of Sitges, I knew I wanted a colourful bouquet which would also reflect our fun and colourful personalities! I’m not a connoisseur of florals by any means, so I left it all to Rebecca and she outdid herself! The flowers were stunning – from the bouquet, bridesmaids hoops, ceremony to the entire reception – just beautiful!

What is your advice for other couples getting married in Barcelona?

Love every moment of the entire process! It goes by in a flash so relish every single part of the planning and preparation, not to mention the day itself! Relax, enjoy and if Rebecca is your wedding planner, you couldn’t be in better hands! I promise you’ll have the best day of your lives xx

What cultural aspects did you include in your big day?

We wanted to intertwine elements of the Spanish and Irish cultures where possible. We opted for an Andalusian theme for our decor/flowers which worked perfectly. Our musicians were family members who incorporated Irish music into our ceremony and it was just beautiful to have an element of home. The Jameson Irish whiskey at the reception went down a treat! It was an Irish wedding after all! xx

Thank you so much Brona. Your review (below) meant the world to us and all the vendors at this Sitges Wedding.

I just wanted to take the time to tell you that our wedding day was without a doubt the absolute best day of our lives. I know a lot of people use that cliche when talking about their wedding day but we really mean it! It was more than anything we ever wanted it to be and that was down to all your hard work and dedication to what we envisioned for the day. Your team is just amazing – particularly Gaby, she had to contend with that weird, angry little priest as well as a pile of drunken Irish folk! She was a star!

You really got to know us, know our likes and dislikes and it all came together so perfectly.

I can’t believe how smoothly it all ran, especially when there were so many factors and companies and people involved – all of the staff worked so hard to make it come together and as it seemed to us, without any hassle or difficulties. Every single person involved deserves to be commended.

The decor and flowers were absolutely stunning from start to finish – from the bouquet, bridesmaids hoops, the boutonnières, to the ceremony and the reception – just stunning! Everyone commented on the door as the table plan – which we would’ve loved to have brought home as a memento but I don’t think we could’ve carried much more lol!

Thank you so much to Ivan for such professionalism and friendliness throughout the day, we didn’t even notice him throughout the reception as he was so discreet and unobtrusive! Such a kind person and he made us feel so comfortable on the day! He is definitely a keeper lol! I cannot wait to see the photos!

The videographers were also outstanding in their professionalism – they were so friendly and we are still so delighted that they stayed for those extra hours when they weren’t even paid to! I would highly recommend them to anyone and I look forward to seeing their work.

To the catering company – WOW! The food was absolutely amazing and so many of our guests claimed that it was the nicest food they had ever tasted – the canapés and desserts were particular favourites! They were so efficient, friendly and professional in their conduct throughout the day (even posing for photos with some of the guests which I’m sure they rather wouldn’t have!) and their kind and generous gesture at the end of the night to offer an extra hour of bar service and beer was beyond anything we’ve ever experienced at any event and we couldn’t be more grateful. The mother of the groom was delighted that one particular waitress learned of her aversion to cheese and went to the trouble of bringing canapés without cheese especially for her. It’s the little things like that that people remember! If only we could fly them to Ireland for all our future events!

To Jordi, what can we say?! He was so entertaining and the guests will certainly be talking about his performance for some time! They loved it! He was such an asset to the whole experience and because we kept his appearance as a complete surprise for all the guests, they were blown away! We can’t thank him enough 🙂

Gav was the best DJ ever! He kept everyone on the dance floor the entire night and really catered to the crowd – such a mix of brilliant music was exactly what we wanted and he didn’t disappoint! It was nice to have a wee beer and a chat with him at the end of the night too lol!

Sofia and Miguel were just amazing on the morning of the wedding – with so much hair to style in a short period of time, they outdid themselves! They were so friendly and really got involved with the bridal party as we got ready. We all looked beautiful too so a huge thank you to them both 🙂

To whoever owned the wedding car (I don’t even know his name!), we are so grateful to have arrived in style to the church! I can’t speak for the men, but my dad and I felt like celebrities as we made our way to the front doors of the church!

I’ve probably left out so many others to thank but ultimately it is you who brought all of these people together to make our dreams come true, so you’re the most important person to thank. I feel like I’ve made a real friend this past year and I’ve no doubt we’ll keep in touch – we’re regular visitors to Barcelona so we’ll be looking you up when we’re there and maybe next time we’ll get to meet your baby boy! Such happy and exciting times ahead for you and Ivan and we couldn’t think of two people who deserve it more 🙂
