S&M’s Can Magi Wedding: Interview with our Bride
It’s honestly hard to put into words how much we loved working with Sade and Marlon. This couple from Los Angeles had to postpone due to COVID which meant we had longer to get to know them.
Thank you Sade for taking the time to tell us all about your beautiful wedding. We love you both!
Thank you David Griso for these stunning photos.
Describe your Barcelona Can Magi wedding day in 3 words!
Well that’s difficult haha but lets see…. Perfect, Magic, Happiness
What was your favourite memory from your Barcelona wedding?
Our favourite memory was entering the cocktail hour at Can Magi to see all of our family and friends enjoying themselves. They showered us with so much love, the food and drinks were amazing, the music was perfect, and there was just so much joy in that moment…we will never forget it. Our other favorite moment was walking down the aisle and seeing each other for the first time, we both have never felt such an emotional moment in our lives.
Why did you choose Barcelona as your wedding destination?
Marlon and I met in Ibiza 6 years ago and we both love Barcelona. Naturally we wanted to share our love story, our favorite city, and our love of travel with our friends and family as well. Barcelona is such a wonderful and magical city with so much to do, see, and eat, and we couldn’t imagine saying “I do” anywhere else.
What did you love most about your wedding dress? How and where did you find it?
I loved my train! It was long and dramatic and perfect for a wedding in a Barcelona Cathedral. I found it at Lee Hwa Wedding in Los Angeles. I randomly went to the shop to check out a sample sale they were having and voila they had my dream dress, it was meant to be!
If you did it all again what might you change?
Not a thing, it was absolutely perfect!
Tell us about the blooms. What was your favourite thing about your wedding flowers?
My goodness, what an amazing job thanks to Phlox florals, when we walked into the wedding dinner at Can Magi and saw our head table, it was absolutely stunning. We loved seeing how our vision came to fruition.
What is your advice for other couples getting married in Barcelona?
The best advice I can give is to make sure you have an amazing team. Working with Becky of Barcelona Brides was the best decision we could have ever made. The entire team we worked with was supportive, understanding, flexible and most importantly kind and full of joy. The level of communication was excellent, Becky always made us feel heard, she kept us focused on what mattered, she provided her advice when we needed it, and was just an amazing person to have lunch and dinner with! Our wedding was difficult as it was cancelled during the pandemic and had to be rescheduled twice. Becky was so supportive through the entire process and seamlessly coordinated all of our vendors and went the extra mile to make sure things were perfect. Thanks Becky!
What cultural aspects did you include in your big day?
Marlon and I both loved a flamenco show we saw on a visit to Barcelona in the past and we wanted to share that with our family and friends, so we had a flamenco show at the welcome party and everyone loved it. We also included Espinaler sauce with chips (among other gifts) because it was a favorite and common snack in Barcelona and our guests couldn’t get enough!
