Describe your Barcelona wedding day in 3 words.
Magical
Vibrant
Joyful
What was your favourite memory from your Barcelona wedding?
My favorite memory of the whole day was the first looks with my husband and my dad. There is so much build up and anticipation to get to the day/moment. I was so happy I could have burst!!
Why did you choose Barcelona and your venue for your wedding?
I spent a semester of college in Barcelona. I absolutely fell in love with the city. My now husband flew over to visit me during my time abroad. This was when I really knew he was the person I would marry! Fast forward 8 years later, we get engaged. I had been thinking about doing a destination wedding and started looking for a castle. My friends growing up would jokingly call me a princess and I also just so happened to be engaged to become Mrs. King, so the castle vibe seemed fitting! Nothing I had found so far felt like the right thing, until I stumbled upon Castel de San Marcal. I then realized where it was located and it all just CLICKED! It was the perfect destination city and venue for us 🙂
What did you love most about your wedding dress? How and where did you find it?
I purchased my dress from Adorn Nashville. I went dress shopping there with my mom, mother in law, sister and sister in law.
I love the detailing of the beadwork / appliqués on the top and bottom of my dress. The original dress did not have sleeves or detailing on the bottom of the dress. With my bridal consultant’s help, we ordered extra beading / appliqués to have my dress vision come to life with the help of an amazing seamstress!
If you did it all again what might you change?
Nothing at all 🙂
Tell us about the blooms. What was your favourite thing about your wedding flowers?
I cannot express my gratitude to Elisa at Flors Bertran enough! She absolutely blew me away. I told her my vision and everything turned out better than I ever could have imagined.
For the ceremony I wanted to stick with white and classic. I wanted a lined aisle and a half- rounded low floral arrangement for us to stand in. She used dimension to bring depth into the ceremony flowers that elevated the entire look!
For the reception, I wanted the vibe to look modern and elegant. I wanted a neutral table cloth, clear ghost chairs, and for the POP of color to be the flowers. Wow did she accomplish that! These flowers were so vibrant, fresh, and gorgeous. I’ll never get over it. People could not stop complimenting them!
In the disco room, I was dreaming of hanging colorful flowers / greenery with disco balls. This was so fun and I was so happy how it turned out! It fully filled the ceiling above the dance floor and couldn’t have looked better 🙂
What is your advice for other couples getting married in Barcelona?
Hire Barcelona Brides!!!! And take a wedding planning trip over if you have time. It was wonderful to meet our planner, see the venue, do a catering taste test, etc. I also got to do my hair & makeup trial which is so important! Lastly, we took some really special engagement pictures in Barcelona. I will cherish them forever!
What cultural aspects did you include in your big day?
For American culture, we incorporated food and music. I had a special catering request for a “Taste of America” section on the menu. This included a Mashed Potato Martini Bar 🙂
For Spanish culture, we had an amazing selection of tapas, paella, Iberian ham, and all of the amazing things you could think of!! Lastly, we had a surprise flamenco show for our guests. This really made the wedding in Spain feel full circle and as a nod to the amazing country we were all celebrating in!
What song brings you back to the day and why?
Our first dance song was Best of My Love. It makes me smile and takes me right back to the best night of my life! You can see the happiness and joy in our first dance photos. It was pure bliss 🙂
What did Blair & Jack have to say about their experience with Barcelona Brides?
Rebecca and her team made my dream wedding come true! I cannot begin to express how amazing they are to work with. Every single detail was perfectly taken care of, the planning process was made so easy by them, and the amazing wedding weekend could not have been possible without Rebecca & her team’s hard work! I cannot recommend using them enough 🙂 We planned our wedding starting 13 months out and we planned it from the US. This meant us putting our full trust into a planner located in Spain. From my first video call with them, I knew they were who we should use. They saw my vision and kept planning so fun and not stressful! We were able to take a trip over to Barcelona a few months prior to plan and meet vendors. Rebecca spent an entire day with us and it was so special getting to know her + getting to envision our wedding in person ahead of time. Their response time is absolutely unmatched. They have relationships with any and all vendors you could possibly need. They find a way to just make things happen! I was so absolutely blown away by everything coming to life on our wedding day. It was better than I ever could have imagined. Making all of those puzzle pieces come into place is no easy task and it’s all thanks to Barcelona Brides!
