C&M Villa Catalina Wedding
We fell in love with Cailin and Martin and loved planning this Villa Catalina wedding with the help of all their family. We want to go back and enjoy it all again but in the meeting we bring you our interview with Cailin!!
Describe your Barcelona Villa Catalina wedding day in 3 words!
Dreamy, personal, exuberant
What was your favourite memory from your Barcelona wedding?
It feels impossible to pick a single favorite memory from the wedding as the whole week was truly incredible! If I have to narrow it down to a single moment though, I think I would say it was when Martin and I were taking a few photos on a balcony at Villa Catalina. Not only did I love the pictures that turned out afterwards from all of our guests who were below us, but it was when Martin jokingly threw my bouquet at my sister’s boyfriend. The simultaneous expressions of shock from my sister, her boyfriend, and my poor father of 3 girls was priceless, and all of our wedding guests were in hysterics with us. Now I can’t wait to tell the story at her future wedding!
Why did you chose Barcelona as you wedding destination?
Martin and I knew that we wanted to have a destination wedding after he proposed because traveling is something we are passionate about and try to prioritize, given our extensive history of long distance dating. When trying to narrow down potential locations, we had to consider the time of year and ease of transportation for our guests. Barcelona was the first international trip we went on together in 2018, and we had completely fallen in love with it at the time. Additionally, Martin’s family has a strong Spanish background with his father’s paella being some of the best I’ve ever had to this day. After I found Barcelona Brides on Instagram and reached out to Rebecca, it was a done deal. Best decision I’ve ever made, other than saying I do!
What did you love most about your wedding dress? How and where did you find it?
Though I looked for my wedding dress in the States, I picked it because I could imagine it perfectly suiting the romantic, rustic charm of Sitges, which I absolutely think it did. It’s a Willowby by Watters design with a gorgeous corseted top and off-white hue that created a warm glow in our setting. On top of it all, I had the dress altered to create a bustle in the States, which unfortunately did not end up working well, and somehow Maily was also able to find an incredible seamstress in Sitges who fixed it mere days before the wedding!
If you did it all again what might you change?
Ironically the very few things I would have changed, I chose myself instead of selecting one of Rebecca and Maily’s recommendations! Primarily my hair and make-up were not exactly what I was hoping for, but seeing as it’s a destination wedding, I wasn’t able to have a trial run beforehand. That being said, they were still able to do hair and make up for 12 people all before a 1 PM ceremony, which is very impressive!
Tell us about the blooms. What was your favourite thing about your wedding flowers?
Barcelona Brides had suggested Phlox Events, and they exceeded all of our expectations! The bouquets were stunning with warm oranges and pinks while keeping it natural looking with eucalyptus, pampas, etc. However, what I was most impressed with was how they decorated our venue space. We had to change our lay out plans days before the wedding because of weather, and they made the indoor wine cellar look like a fairytale, along with Rebecca and Maily’s vision. All the hanging arrangements and lights truly took my breath away when I first walked in!
What is your advice for other couples getting married in Barcelona?
Enjoy your time in the gorgeous city and let Rebecca and Maily handle everything! It can be easy to get caught up in the small details, but every moment I was able to spend with family and friends throughout the week is now a precious memory I’ll have to cherish. I can’t thank them enough for allowing me the opportunity to actually enjoy the whole experience!
What cultural aspects did you include in your big day?
Martin and I are both Catholic so we wanted to have a more traditional ceremony to exchange our vows. When we visited Sitges, we absolutely fell in love with Iglesia de San Bartolomé y Santa Tecla. It’s hard not to with the stunning piece of history sitting on gorgeous blue waters. Rebecca and Maily walked us through all the steps necessary to be married in the Spanish Catholic Church and also helped us find an English speaking priest. The town of Sitges and it’s famous church featured in all their local museums will always hold a special place in our hearts now.
And we are so grateful for the wonderful review below:
There will never be enough words to properly express how grateful we are for Barcelona Brides as they were able to bring our dream wedding to life! Being from the States and reaching out to an Instagram account to help start planning a wedding in another country in the midst of COVID was pretty risky, however, as soon as we met Rebecca and Maily, we knew we were in excellent hands. From the countless video calls (many of which I was unable to attend, so my parents very kindly subbed in) and constant emails back and forth with all of us as we neared our big day, they were able to take everything in stride; always with a smile and laughs too!! Our frequent questions regarding COVID restrictions, last minute requests, and special details were always welcomed without any hesitancy. I truly don’t know how they had answers to everything, but they always did or would find them out within 24 hours. Rebecca and Maily saw our vision so clearly and made it even better than I could have imagined, while keeping our budget in mind! They had premiere recommendations for all types of vendors, and we were not disappointed with any of their suggestions. Not only did they seamlessly have to change the plan of our venue lay out days before the wedding due to weather, but were able to make it even dreamier than intended. Special shout out to Monchos catering and Phlox florals as well!! On top of it all, they also helped organize our welcome event, rehearsal dinner with flamenco and paella, and the farewell brunch. I could rave about them endlessly and would never suggest anyone else if you are looking to hire wedding planners in the Barcelona area. Look at a few of our pictures and look no further for the perfect planners! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!!!
