E&S Almiral de La Font: Interview with our Bride
We adored E&S and their stunning Almiral de La Font wedding and are delighted to bring you the interview and photos.
Describe your Barcelona wedding day in 3 words!
Elegant, magical, fairytale
What was your favourite memory from your Almiral de La Font wedding?
Making our entrance into our wedding dinner dancing hand in hand to ‘September’ by Earth, Wind & Fire, all of our guests were on their feet singing and waving their napkins in the air, it was so special.
Why did you choose Barcelona and Almiral de La Font for your wedding?
Scott and I spent the first 2.5 years of our relationship based just outside Barcelona whilst working on superyachts. We wanted to get married in a large villa and when we found Almiral de La Font we knew it was the one. We filled the villa with our closest friends and family for 3 nights and it was such a special time, memories we will cherish forever. As a Chief Stew on superyachts I really wanted to create a memorable experience for our guests. With Almiral as our venue we were able to create 4 different guest experiences from the ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner and dancing, each event led our guests to a different section of the venue and added an element of surprise at every corner.
What did you love most about your wedding dress? How and where did you find it?
I loved the elegant, classic cut of the dress with a feature bow on the shoulder which complemented the grooms party bow ties. I found my dress at the Made With Love showroom in London during COVID, I was on a tight time frame so it was a rushed decision but I love it, and was very different to the 2022 styles you may see. I changed into a shorter, backless number for the evening paired with white trainers, it was the best decision so I could dance all night!
If you did it all again what might you change?
Honestly nothing, with COVID we’d been planning for a long time so everything was perfect. Perhaps we would have extended the band until 3am… we didn’t want it to end!
Tell us about the blooms. What was your favourite thing about your Almiral de La Font wedding flowers?
My brief for Yolanda from Best Day Ever was modern, gorgeous, stand out blooms. I let her run wild with her creativity, we spoke about my dream colour scheme and my ideas for the tablescape and I let her do the rest. I was absolutely blown away by the setup of the ceremony flowers, our long stem bouquets and the tables were just beautiful, complementing the bougainvillea of the villa.
What is your advice for other couples getting married in Barcelona?
Everyone says it’s the best day of your life but it really is, enjoy every minute and the day will be perfect. Stay close to your partner to enjoy the day together side by side. The team at Barcelona Brides were on hand every step of the way, Maily coming to the rescue when a guest accidentally got tomato ketchup on my dress!! I started planing with Rebecca back in early 2020 so it was a long time coming and the 4 day event was simply perfect in every way, if you dream it, you can have it!
What cultural aspects did you include in your big day?
Scott is originally from New Zealand, I wanted to honour that by choosing a local kiwi designer to make the bridesmaid dresses, Leave Her Wilder did a beautiful job and it was a taste of NZ fashion in Spain. Scott also wore cufflinks made from original maps, Hawkes Bay in New Zealand on one wrist and my hometown in the UK on the other. After dinner his closest friends performed a Māori song called Tu Tera Mai in front of all of our guests, it was very wonderful.
What song brings you back to the day and why?
‘This will be’ by Natalie Cole, we walked down the aisle after the ceremony to this song and it was magical.
