Peach La Baronia Wedding: Interview

Everything about Joy and Christian’s la Baronia wedding was perfect. It was a pleasure to work with this lovely couple and feature their wedding on our blog.

Describe your la Baronia wedding day in 3 words!

Personal, fun and unforgettable!

What was your favourite memory from your la Baronia wedding?

Our dinner entrance song to One Dance, Drake – seeing all of our family and friends dancing and singing along to the whole song with their napkins – A moment we will never forget! Also hearing two of our best friends who had written their reading personalised around us and having my Brother in Law officiate the wedding felt very special.

Why did you choose Barcelona and your venue for your wedding?

We always knew that we wanted to get married in Spain and decided on Barcelona given the amazing venues, how you get both the city and the beach and it being a short enough flight from the UK for guests to come for the weekend. As soon as we walked into La Baronia, we both felt it was the one. Everywhere you looked had so much character and we loved all the different areas you move across throughout the wedding day so you’re never in the same place.

What did you love most about your wedding dress? How and where did you find it?

I tried on so many dresses of all different styles, but I felt myself and best in something contemporary and simple. I came across the Fall Bride in London and as soon as I saw the dress that I chose online, I hoped it was the one and it was!

If you did it all again what might you change?

The only thing was that we had to make the decision to have the dinner inside due to a storm which was happening whilst getting ready which I was gutted about as we had envisioned it all outside – but I wish I didn’t worry so much about the things you can’t control, as we still had the best time and luckily the sun came out for us just before the ceremony started – but wow that was stressful!

Tell us about the blooms. What was your favourite thing about your la Baronia wedding flowers?

We took out bunches of gypsophila and lunaria and made the bridesmaids bouquets ourselves, but I sent a photo of this to Yolanda at Best Day Ever and the colours and design of my bridal bouquet matched them all perfectly, alongside the table bouquets of wild, earth toned flowers alongside the pink candles which looked so beautiful and she did an amazing job.

What is your advice for other couples getting married in Barcelona?

Give yourself at least a year to plan and check dates if there are any big events happening in Barcelona on the date you are thinking as prices for hotels and flights can go up quickly. Instead of posting out wedding invites, we made a website recommended by Barcelona Brides which was free to use and included all of the plans & details for the week that we were in Barcelona around the wedding day, as well as recommendations so guests could refer back on their phone once they landed too which was great and so easy to do.

What cultural aspects did you include in your big day?

We travelled across Mexico and Central America with a group of our friends 7 years ago and had Mariachis Band to play after the ceremony which was a fun touch. Christian is also half Scottish and loved seeing his Dad surprise us, with wearing his Kilt on the day!

What song brings you back to the day and why?

I wanna dance with somebody, Whitney Houston and Bad Behaviour, Elli Ingram. Our amazing friends and singers who surprised us with singing on the dancefloor, alongside Arnald on the Sax which was so so good.
