Xalet del Nin wedding: Interview with our Bride
Spectacular, breathtaking, and fun, what a day, what a couple. Lucy and Trey and their Xalet del Nin wedding were a dream and it’s such a pleasure to feature their interview and beautiful photos by Fotoclip Studio on our Blog.

What was your favourite memory from your Xalet del Nin wedding?
This is so hard to choose! For me, as the bride, mine has to be sharing my vows with Trey and in front of our loved ones. The setting was perfect and everything I dreamed of. Trey’s favorite memory was our first dance as a couple, which was a close second for me. We finished our first dance and then invited our guests to join us on the dance floor.

Why did you choose Barcelona and Xalet del Nin for your wedding?
We loved the culture, gastronomy, and coastal scenery that Barcelona had to offer. After visiting Barcelona in October 2022, it further validated our decision to have a xlaet del Nin wedding because we had the best time. Everyone we met from Spain was incredibly welcoming and helpful, and we knew our guests would love the culture, too. We seriously considered 8 venues and visited almost all of them. It just so happened that Xalet del Nin was the last venue visit of our trip back in October 2022, and it completely took our breath away. The estate itself was absolutely stunning, and the first impression we got from Carlos and Maria made us feel completely confident that they would keep everything running smoothly for us behind the scenes (which they did!). Plus, Barcelona Brides had done many weddings there in the past, which also gave us peace of mind. We also really liked the close proximity to Barcelona. This made it easy for our guests, who all travelled internationally, to fly into the Barcelona Airport and easily travel to Sitges where everyone stayed.

What did you love most about your wedding dress? How and where did you find it?
I absolutely loved, and still love to this day, my wedding dress. I visited 3 boutiques in the Washington, DC area, and found success at Lovely Bride DC. At first, I had my heart set on a few column-style dresses with lace built in, but after trying them on, I felt most comfortable and confident in an a-line dress. I chose the Louvienne Adler, which felt so flattering up top while creating a dramatic bottom. I paired it with a dramatic cathedral-length lace veil from Melvin Smith Designs on Etsy.

If you did it all again what might you change?
I think the only thing we felt we missed out on was cocktail hour, and we were most excited for that food and to see our guests’ reactions. We understood that we would miss part of cocktail hour because we chose not to do a first look, and we didn’t realize our photos would take up the majority of the time. On the bright side, our couple’s session photos are phenomenal so it was well worth it!

Tell us about the blooms. What was your favourite thing about your wedding flowers?
I loved how light and bright our wedding flowers were. I chose light pink and white shades, which went so well with our colors and bridesmaid dresses. Our bridesmaid dresses, ties, pocket squares, etc. were custom designed by our sister-in-law! She has a wedding collection that features many different prints and styles, and the material is so light, airy, and stretchy. My bridesmaids said it was perfect for a lengthy Spanish wedding! Her company is Smith & Quinn, for future interested brides!

What is your advice for other couples getting married at Xalet del Nin?
We highly advise other couples to see their venue in person either before or after they’ve chosen, if this is a possibility. While you can look at photos and videos all you want online, it is not quite the same as walking the property yourself, seeing the space in person, and envisioning the day. We also had the privilege of travelling back to Spain for our menu tastings for the rehearsal dinner and wedding day. While this was by no means a requirement, the food was incredibly important to us, so we really wanted to choose the food and drinks firsthand ourselves.

What cultural aspects did you include in your big day?
We included the Las Arras tradition into our ceremony. Not only is this a Spanish tradition, but it is also a Filipino tradition. I was born in the Philippines, so this was a perfect way to represent both cultures!

What song brings you back to the day and why?
This has to be our first dance, Perfect (Duet) by Ed Sheeran & Beyoncé. This song spoke to us and described our relationship. We performed a choreographed dance to this song in front of our guests before getting the party started.

We are so grateful to Lucy and Trey for their review:
Where do I even begin with this team? Thanks to social media, I stumbled upon Barcelona Brides on Instagram. After extensively researching and reviewing wedding planners in Spain, my now husband and I landed on the BB team. From the very start, they were responsive, communicative, friendly, and fun to work with. We quickly scheduled a planning visit to Barcelona (we are from the US), and partnered closely with Claudia on our venue visits. Each visit and conversation during our pre-wedding trips were so detailed and helpful. By the time we were through, we felt more than prepared for our big day a year later. There were so many details to handle and things to think of that the BB team handled seamlessly for us. On the rehearsal day and the wedding day, Maily was the saving grace in managing all operations down to a T. She kept me a calm bride and really took away all stress from me. Our wedding was a dream come true, and the best day of our lives. We would not have done anything differently, and it is all thanks to BB!!!
